Exam results and graduation: credit for the next step

Updated on

When is it

This year Results days and graduation ceremonies differ per exam board and university. (2026)

Next year Results days and graduation ceremonies differ per exam board and university. (2027)

Results day for GCSEs and A levels comes in August, and university graduations follow through summer and winter. The date depends on the exam board or university, so this page does not name one. What does not change is the feeling afterwards: a summer to celebrate, and often a move to a new town, a new course or a first job.

Credit fits that in-between moment. A student heading to university gets more from phone credit or Deliveroo and Just Eat cards than from another object to pack. Someone who revised for months may just want the new game their friends have been playing, bought with PlayStation Store, Xbox or Nintendo eShop credit.

Paying without a bank card is common at this age. A paysafecard, Neosurf or Flexepin voucher lets them pay online in pounds at sites that accept it, which is useful before a first student account is set up. Uber credit helps with the trips home at the end of term. Each voucher and card has its own rules, listed on its page.

Check the details first. Console and app credit needs a UK account. Phone credit needs the right network and number, and students often switch networks when they move. Every amount comes from a brand’s UK ladder in pounds, and the price bands below only list real values.

Any service fees for gaming credit, subscriptions and gift cards are shown before payment; mobile top-ups and prepaid vouchers carry a small fee shown before you pay. After confirmed payment the code is e-mailed to you, so you can hand it over with the results or at the leaving do.

1. For the gamer

Credit for the console or game they already play. Check the platform first: PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo credit only works on a UK account of that platform. In-game currency such as Robux or V-Bucks is spent inside that one game, on the player’s own account.

2. For the student paying without a card

A prepaid voucher lets someone pay online in pounds without a bank card. Each voucher works at its own partner sites, so match it to where they want to spend. It is a common way for younger players to pay for games when nobody wants to share a parent’s card.

3. For the commuter on pay as you go

Phone credit keeps data and calls going on the train and the bus. You need the right network and the mobile number that gets the top-up. It suits anyone on pay as you go who would rather not run out of data halfway through the journey.

4. For apps, films and streams

Google Play credit on their phone or a streaming service they watch. It sits on their own account, so it has to be a UK account. It works well for someone who already pays for films, music or apps and would like a month or two covered.

5. For food, rides and treats

Gift cards for a takeaway, a taxi, clothes or a break. Each card is spent with the named brand only, on its UK site or app. These are the cards to pick when you know their favourite takeaway, shop or way of getting around.

How it works

  1. 1Pick the situation that sounds like the person and open the brand page that fits what they already use.
  2. 2Read the region rule on that page: account country, network or UK site. The currency is always pounds sterling.
  3. 3Choose one of the listed amounts. After confirmed payment the code is sent to you by e-mail, and you decide how and when to pass it on.
  4. 4Keep the e-mail until the code has been redeemed, so the person can check the code again if something goes wrong on their account.

Frequently asked questions

When is results day?
It depends on the qualification and exam board, and graduations depend on the university. That is why this page shows no single date.
What suits a student moving to university?
Practical credit: phone top-ups, takeaway cards such as Deliveroo or Just Eat, or an Uber card for journeys. Pick what they will use in their first weeks.
What if they do not have a bank card yet?
A prepaid voucher such as paysafecard, Neosurf or Flexepin lets them pay online at sites that accept it. The voucher page lists how it works.
Can I give credit for a game as a reward?
Yes. Store credit for their platform lets them choose the game. Check that their account is set to the UK.
Which amounts are available?
Each brand sells fixed amounts in pounds, listed on its product page. The price bands here are built from those amounts only.
Is there a service fee?
Gaming credit, subscriptions and gift cards carry none. Mobile top-ups and prepaid vouchers carry a fee shown before you pay.
Can I top up a phone on a new network?
Yes, if you know the network and number. The mobile top-up page lists UK networks with their amounts.
How is the code sent?
By e-mail to you after confirmed payment. You pass it on yourself; no delivery time is promised.
Can a group of friends put money together?
Supercharge has no shared payment for groups. One person orders and the others settle between themselves.
What if they start a job instead of university?
Think about the commute and lunch: phone credit, an Uber card or a takeaway card. Pick a brand they already use.
