Lycamobile or Lebara, which prepaid suits you?

Lycamobile and Lebara are the two best-known prepaid brands in the Netherlands, both aimed at cheap international calling. On paper they look alike, but they differ in bundle structure, network and how you top up.

Bundles and rates

Both work with monthly bundles combining data, minutes and texts, plus one-off top-up amounts from five euros. Look beyond the headline price at the data allowance and whether international minutes are included or billed separately.

Network and coverage

Neither runs its own network; both lease capacity from one of the Dutch network operators. In most urban areas the choice makes little difference to coverage, but in rural areas the underlying network can matter.

Topping up in practice

With both you can top up online with a code delivered by e-mail after confirmed payment, without a credit card. That's also the way to fill a Dutch number from abroad, or to have someone else top it up for you.

Questions fréquentes

Can I port my number between them?
Yes, number portability works between all Dutch providers, prepaid included.
Which is cheaper for international calls?
It depends on the destination; both publish per-country rates, so compare them for the countries you call.
Does my bundle lapse if I don't top up?
Yes, a bundle ends after its term and won't renew without sufficient credit.
