Was ist SMS?

Paying by SMS means the amount is charged to your phone bill or taken from your mobile credit. It is popular because it needs no bank or card, but it has all but disappeared in the Netherlands: operators wound the service down and the per-message cost was high.

So funktioniert es, Schritt für Schritt

1. 1. We do not offer SMS payment, so there is no SMS step at our checkout.
2. 2. If you still want to pay without a bank or card, buy a prepaid voucher.
3. 3. Pay for that voucher with iDEAL here, or buy one for cash at a physical outlet.
4. 4. You then pay online with the 16-digit voucher code, without sharing any bank details.

Was kostet es?

In practice SMS payments carried a hefty surcharge on top of the purchase amount. A voucher has no such surcharge: the face value is the value you can spend.

Grenzen und Bedingungen

SMS payment is no longer widely supported by Dutch operators and had low maximum amounts per message. Above a few euros it was rarely usable.

Und wenn es nicht klappt?

Use a prepaid voucher: same reason to exist — paying without a bank or credit card — but with no surcharge and no per-message ceiling.
